Real Madrid has the highest annual shirt sales revenue, with 3.3 million euros in sales, a 400% increase from 2018. This is the report from Kiliagon, the Labelium Group's global division, which focuses exclusively on Amazon.com. The four major European leagues' (Spain, Italy, England, and France) merchandising sales were analyzed in a study. The estimated annual revenue from shirt sales for these leagues is 12.3 million euros.

While Real Madrid lead the list, with 2.2 million euros, PSG is second in the standings. Messi's arrival undoubtedly contributed to the sale of more than a million shirts. The Parisian team sold six out of ten jerseys with Leo's number 30 on the back.

With 1.5 million euros, AC Milan, which has made a comeback in Europe by winning the Scudetto after eleven years, comes in third place.

Barcelona managed only to occupy the sixth place with 0.7 million euros according to the report. All this highlights the importance of convincing the general public with attractive products and intelligent marketing campaigns when it comes to obtaining added resources that swell the coffers, often battered by signings, of the big teams.

Kiliagon's analysis also focuses on two teams that have had outstanding success this year: A.C. Milan, the Serie A champion, and Real Madrid, the LaLiga and Champions League winners.

"The two weeks before and the two weeks after Real Madrid's victory in the Champions League and AC Milan's triumph in their home league were compared. Based on the top three keywords with the highest search volume, AC Milan's merchandise sales increased by 231%, while Real Madrid's increased by 166%", according to a statement from the company.

"Amazon represents a great opportunity for football clubs that do not yet have a direct presence here, to continue building their brand and the relationship with their fans," said Borja Fishing, Managing Director of the Labelium Group in Spain. "It will undoubtedly be interesting for various clubs to control the message in both their own stores and product sheets on a platform with this scope and growth and to consider Amazon as another channel of selling in a multi-channel approach."
