At the Bernabéu, the stance is clear: they cannot imagine any outcome other than the suspension being lifted. The club interprets recent developments as proof that the refereeing system itself has already admitted the mistake by pointing to the referee’s error, and they expect the same conclusion to be reflected in the Committee’s ruling.

Madrid’s defense rests on two main arguments: Éder Militão was in position to cover, and the distance from goal, along with the direction of play, ruled out any clear scoring opportunity. Despite knowing that most appeals tend to fail, the club is optimistic that Huijsen will be cleared and available for the next league match against Espanyol.

Meanwhile, the Anoeta incident has also had repercussions within the refereeing body. Figueroa Vázquez, the VAR official, has been excluded from future appointments as punishment for failing to intervene and send Gil Manzano to review the action. This sanction highlights the self-criticism of the new VAR system and further strengthens Real Madrid’s belief that their appeal will succeed.
