The long-anticipated news for Real Madrid fans has finally arrived: Xabi Alonso is closer than ever to taking charge of the bench. Journalist Roberto Gómez revealed exclusive details on ElDesmarque Madrugada, confirming the planned date for Alonso’s official presentation as Real Madrid’s next head coach.
While Carlo Ancelotti’s future appeared tied to the Brazilian national team, recent developments within the Brazilian Football Confederation have halted negotiations, clearing the path for a change in leadership at the Santiago Bernabéu.
According to Gómez, Alonso will be officially unveiled as Real Madrid’s manager on July 15 at 12:00 PM, at the Bernabéu. However, he noted that the date could be moved forward if Madrid exits the Club World Cup early—though Alonso will not manage the team during the tournament under any scenario.
Instead, Santiago Solari and Álvaro Arbeloa are expected to lead the squad in the Club World Cup. Gómez added that Arbeloa will likely serve as Solari’s assistant during the competition.
