Xabi Alonso bid farewell to Real Madrid and its supporters through a brief message shared on his social media platforms, expressing regret over the missed opportunity and reaffirming that he gave everything during his time at the club.

“This professional chapter has come to an end, and it hasn’t turned out as we would have liked,” Alonso wrote. “Coaching Real Madrid has been both an honor and a great responsibility,” he added, before extending his gratitude. “I thank the club, the players, and above all the fans and Madridistas for their trust and support. I leave with respect, gratitude, and the pride of knowing I did my best.”

In his message, the former coach referenced the club but made no mention of president Florentino Pérez. Alonso’s spell at Real Madrid lasted just eight months after his departure from Bayer Leverkusen, with the team’s poor run of form since November ultimately leading to his early exit.
