Xabi Alonso spoke to the media ahead of Real Madrid’s upcoming match against Valencia at the Santiago Bernabéu. Los Blancos return home after their victory in El Clásico last weekend, which gave them a five-point lead over Barcelona in the league table. The press conference was notably influenced by questions about Vinicius’s substitution during the Clásico.
“After a very positive first week, another demanding one is coming — two league games and a Champions League trip. We want to end this stretch on a high note, starting against Valencia,” said the coach from San Sebastián.
Xabi Alonso also addressed Vinicius’s recent comments with satisfaction: “We had a meeting with the whole team on Wednesday, and Vinicius was impeccable. He spoke sincerely and very well. For me, it’s over — there are no consequences.”
Regarding the player’s statement, which did not mention him directly, Alonso was clear: “It was a very valuable and positive message. He showed his honesty and spoke from the heart. What matters most is what he said, and I was very pleased. The issue was resolved on Wednesday.”
