Real Madrid have already confirmed four major additions ahead of the new season, beginning with José Mourinho's return as head coach. The club later announced the signings of Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, and Ibrahima Konaté.
However, there has still been no official announcement regarding Denzel Dumfries, despite Florentino Pérez confirming on the program Horizonte that the Dutch defender would join the club.
The absence of an official statement has led to speculation that the transfer may have fallen through. According to Ok Diario, that is not the case. Dumfries has already completed his move to Real Madrid, but the club is delaying the announcement for financial reasons.
The report states that Real Madrid prefer to register the transfer in July so that it is included in the club's 2026-27 financial accounts. Doing so would provide greater flexibility in the budget while leaving the current season's balance sheet unaffected.
As the deal is an international transfer, the timing also allows the club to complete the necessary financial procedures, including commissions, payments between clubs, and tax-related obligations before making the signing official.
