The 2022/23 Champions League season is just around the corner with 32 teams in the pot ahead of the group stage draw.

The same teams that have been favorites in previous seasons are still in contention: Manchester City, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain. In the later rounds, there will not likely be any other competitors.

It is true that some teams, like PSG and City, are more motivated than ever after what they went through the previous season, but they will all have to beat the competition's kings and reigning champions, Real Madrid.

It is interesting that only five teams have managed to win the title since Jose Mourinho's Inter won the competition in 2010: Liverpool (once); Barcelona (2); Chelsea (2); Bayern (2); and Real Madrid (5).

The competition is extremely hard and challenging to win; Manchester City, PSG, Tottenham, and Atletico Madrid are all excellent examples.

With a format that does not appear to be able to be further improved, at least from a competitive perspective, a thrilling Champions League is awaiting us.

As it stands, the Champions League draws supporters and sponsors from all over the world. It remains to be seen if the new format will be able to raise more money in 2024.

But before that, let's see who will be the new champion (maybe an old champions)? The final will take place on June 10, 2023 at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.
