Vinicius Júnior once again failed to find the net against Elche, with the Brazilian struggling to turn his chances into goals despite trying everything to break his scoring drought.

The forward’s lack of accuracy was particularly frustrating, even for his teammates, who were visibly disappointed on the bench. Mourinho had already highlighted the issue before the match, saying: "He's lacking goals." Vinicius is aware of the problem himself and took responsibility on social media after the game, writing: "The goals will come, I can't miss so much..."

Vinicius has scored just once in Real Madrid’s first six LaLiga matches this season. Against Elche, he had two clear opportunities to add to his tally but failed to capitalize on either.

His first chance came when he found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Dituro. Instead of getting a clean connection on the ball, Vinicius tried to finish with the toe of his boot and sent his effort well wide of the goal. Arda Güler was calling for the ball, but Vinicius was in a good position and chose to take the initiative.

The Brazilian had another promising opportunity in the second half after Güler produced an excellent pass during a well-executed counter-attack. However, Vinicius again failed to find the target, sending his shot wide.

Mourinho eventually replaced him with around half an hour remaining. The coach had noticed that Vinicius was beginning to look tired and also had Sunday's Madrid derby against Atlético Madrid in mind.

With the derby approaching, Vinicius will now be hoping to rediscover his scoring touch and put his difficult start to the season behind him.
