Vinicius Junior’s contract renewal with Real Madrid has shifted from a near certainty to a prolonged negotiation. Talks between both parties have been ongoing for over a year, but no agreement has been reached, mainly due to differences over financial terms.

The key issue remains the player’s salary demands. Reports indicate that Vinicius is seeking a deal comparable to that of Kylian Mbappé, a condition the club is not willing to meet.

According to Jorge Picón, Real Madrid submitted an improved offer several months ago in an attempt to reach a compromise, but it has yet to be accepted. The player’s representatives maintain that he deserves a higher salary, while the club has made it clear it will not raise its proposal further.

With both sides holding firm positions, negotiations are currently at a standstill. As a result, it is increasingly likely that discussions will be postponed until after the World Cup, where Vinicius is expected to feature for Brazil. His performances there could influence the direction of future talks. His current contract with Real Madrid is set to expire next summer.
