Fede Valverde will not join the Uruguayan national team for their upcoming fixtures—away to Paraguay and at home against Venezuela—as part of their 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
According to sources in Uruguay, the midfielder is still struggling with lingering back pain, which has not fully subsided. In agreement with both national and club medical teams, the decision has been made for Valverde to remain in Madrid to continue his recovery process.
The primary objective is to ensure that he is fully fit in time for the Club World Cup, which kicks off in two weeks, where he is expected to play a key role for Real Madrid.
