Federico Valverde is once again stepping into emergency mode. The Uruguayan midfielder, one of Real Madrid’s most adaptable players, will line up as a right-back this Sunday against Getafe, according to OkDiario. It’s not his natural role, but injuries have left Xabi Alonso with little choice.

Real Madrid travel to the Coliseum with a depleted defense. Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold are still training separately, alternating between gym and pitch work, but neither has a confirmed return date. Huijsen and Rüdiger also remain unavailable, forcing Alonso to improvise once again — with Militao and Asencio at the heart of defense, and Valverde filling in at right-back.

The Uruguayan already proved himself in that position against Villarreal, showing once again that while it may not be his preferred spot, he’s always ready to perform wherever the team needs him.
