Toni Kroos has shared his thoughts on the 2026 FIFA World Cup as anticipation builds ahead of the tournament. The Real Madrid legend was asked to name his favourites to lift the trophy, and his choices were clear and decisive.
“Spain, Portugal and France,” Kroos said when listing his main contenders. He also pointed to Morocco as a potential surprise, explaining, “Morocco could be a surprise because technically they have improved a lot in recent years.”
The former Germany international then addressed two traditional powerhouses, leaving them outside his top selections. “Germany and Brazil are not in the top five. Sorry to Romário for not saying Brazil, but if they win it, it’s worth it,” he added.
Kroos famously won the World Cup with Germany in 2014 and featured in his final edition of the tournament at the 2022 World Cup, bringing further weight to his assessment ahead of 2026.
