Martín Zubimendi could cost Real Madrid more than €100 million if the club decides to make a move for the Spanish midfielder. Zubimendi is reportedly open to leaving Arsenal, but his price tag remains the main obstacle preventing Real Madrid from seriously pursuing the deal.
According to Tomás González-Martín, the total cost of the operation could reach between €110 million and €120 million. Such a fee would make Zubimendi one of the biggest midfield investments in Real Madrid's history.
The midfielder arrived at Arsenal with a strong reputation and remains one of the most highly regarded Spanish midfielders in European football. His ability to operate as a pivot, tactical intelligence and capacity to control and organize play are among the qualities that have attracted Real Madrid's attention.
However, the asking price represents a major problem. According to the same report, Florentino Pérez is not willing to even open negotiations at those figures. Real Madrid consider a fee exceeding €100 million excessive and currently have no intention of committing to such an investment.
The situation could change if Arsenal significantly reduce their demands or circumstances arise that make a deal more accessible. Zubimendi's reported willingness to leave London could also become an important factor.
For now, Real Madrid continue to monitor the situation and remain alert to any opportunity, but signing the Spanish international appears difficult unless Arsenal lower their valuation considerably.
