A sense of uncertainty has surrounded Liverpool FC and Anfield in recent hours following comments from Hungary national team coach Marco Rossi regarding Dominik Szoboszlai.
Rossi revealed that the midfielder’s dream is “to play for Real Madrid,” adding: “Because of the very close and direct relationship I have with Dominik since he started playing football as a child, Real Madrid has always been his dream.”
The remarks have inevitably stirred debate in England, given Szoboszlai’s importance to Liverpool and his status as one of the key figures in Arne Slot’s system.
Fuel was added to the fire just hours later when the Hungarian captain interacted on social media with two Real Madrid players. Szoboszlai liked posts from Vinícius Júnior and Trent Alexander-Arnold following Madrid’s victory over Real Sociedad. While his connection with Alexander-Arnold is well known from their time together, his public interaction with Vinícius drew particular attention.
Under contract at Liverpool until 2028, Szoboszlai remains a central piece of the project at Anfield. The club is reportedly planning to offer him an extension in the coming months, but Rossi’s comments have undeniably heightened speculation about his long-term future.
