The debate over who should take charge of Real Madrid next season continues to intensify, with José Mourinho increasingly viewed as one of the leading candidates for the position.
Former Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder has now publicly backed Mourinho, describing him as the ideal coach for the current situation at the club.
"I was with him for only a year, but in that year the experience I gained from this man was incredible. He used to talk about how to manage a team, and that's his main quality," Sneijder said in an interview with Hard Rock Bet.
The Dutchman highlighted Mourinho’s ability to manage large squads and strong personalities inside the dressing room.
"He knows exactly how to manage all the players , because it's easy to manage the first 11. Every coach in the world can do that. But it's not just about those 11 players. There are more footballers on the bench or even not in the squad. Squads are getting bigger and bigger, and the number of players keeps growing. Before, we might have had 23 players in the squad. Now it's up to 30 , and you need to manage all of them too," he explained.
Sneijder believes Mourinho is the right profile for a dressing room filled with high-level stars.
"Real Madrid is one of the teams that needs a great coach, but also a manager capable of controlling incredible players with very strong personalities. I think he's the ideal person for that role right now, and they need to sign him. If they sign him, it will be a very good decision."
