Real Madrid’s stance for the winter transfer window remains unchanged: the club has no intention of making signings in January. This approach has been consistent in recent years. In fact, the last time Los Blancos added a first-team player mid-season was in 2018–19, when Brahim Díaz arrived. Since then, the board has viewed the winter market as largely unproductive and is instead fully focused on planning for the summer.
Despite this, certain names are repeatedly linked with Real Madrid, especially players who are currently without a club. One of the most talked-about figures in recent weeks has been Sergio Ramos, particularly amid discussions about a perceived lack of leadership and hierarchy in the dressing room.
The Andalusian defender is a free agent after his contract with Monterrey expired and is searching for his next challenge. Over the Christmas period, Ramos once again fueled speculation about his bond with Real Madrid when gifts for his family appeared wrapped in paper featuring the club’s crest.
This is not the first time Ramos has sent subtle signals. He has done so before through symbolic gestures and by engaging with social media posts suggesting a possible return to the Santiago Bernabéu. However, despite his deep affection for the club, a comeback appears highly improbable. Real Madrid already dismissed the idea two seasons ago, even during a period plagued by defensive injuries. Still, as football history often shows, nothing can ever be completely ruled out.
