Real Madrid basketball faces important decisions ahead of next season following a disappointing campaign that ended without a single trophy despite boasting one of Europe's strongest rosters.

The team's first-round Liga Endesa playoff elimination against CB Canarias has intensified scrutiny surrounding head coach Sergio Scariolo and his staff. While the season fell short of expectations, the impact of several significant injuries, particularly in the frontcourt, has also been a major factor.

Following the end of the campaign, Scariolo released a statement on social media addressing the team's performance and his own future.

“After a couple of days to gain perspective, I feel the need to reiterate what I said at the end of the last playoff game: during the last week we have not lived up to what the history of this club and the constant support of the fans deserve and we can only apologize for it.

Personally, I regret not being able to help the team regain its competitive energy after the great effort of the Final Four and I take full responsibility.

Today I also feel the need to thank the management, coaches, and players for their professionalism and work ethic. Their efforts over so many months allowed us, despite the adverse circumstances, to have an excellent regular season in the ACB League, securing first place well in advance, and coming very close to becoming European champions.

We need to improve and correct our mistakes, myself included. The daily, high-quality work of all these people has been, and continues to be, the most effective tool for looking to the future with optimism.

“Hala Madrid!”, Sergio Scariolo wrote on his social media.

The statement appears to indicate that Scariolo intends to continue leading the team and work toward a stronger campaign next season.
