Real Madrid are increasingly considering a move for Rodri following the midfielder's outstanding performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to Ramón Álvarez de Mon, the Manchester City star has continued to reject the club's contract renewal offers and remains interested in joining Real Madrid.

The report adds that Real Madrid's transfer plans have evolved in recent days. While the club had initially believed a major sale would be necessary before signing another midfielder, they are now reportedly open to pursuing Rodri without first offloading a key player.

José Mourinho is also said to be a strong supporter of the move. The Portuguese coach views Rodri as the ideal profile to strengthen Real Madrid's midfield, valuing his composure, leadership and ability to control the tempo of matches.

Rodri's performances at the World Cup, where he was named the tournament's best player after helping Spain lift the trophy, have further reinforced his appeal. His displays have also convinced those at Real Madrid that the knee issues which affected him in the past are behind him and that he has returned to his very best.

As a result, optimism over a potential transfer is reportedly growing at the Santiago Bernabéu.
