Real Madrid continues to be strongly linked with the possible return of José Mourinho, and the Portuguese coach could reportedly arrive with ambitious transfer plans for next season.

One of the names now being linked with the club is Rodri. According to journalist Antón Meana on Cadena SER, the Manchester City midfielder could become one of Mourinho’s priority targets if he returns to Madrid.

"I'm convinced that Real Madrid will propose to Mourinho that they go after Rodri , the Manchester City player. They have to work out the numbers, Rodri might not want to renew his contract, he might want to leave City , but I think he'll be one of the first names Mourinho will have on the table as a potential target for Real Madrid," Meana explained.

Rodri has been linked with Real Madrid for several seasons. Despite suffering a serious injury in recent years, the midfielder remains one of the key figures for Manchester City whenever available.

The Spaniard’s reputation also grew significantly after winning the 2024 Ballon d'Or, reinforcing his status as one of the top midfielders in world football.

Meana also stated that Real Madrid’s transfer plans would extend beyond midfield reinforcements.

"Real Madrid is working on it. They're considering names, in defense, in midfield," the journalist said regarding the club’s planning for next season.
