Rodri's proposed move to Real Madrid is entering a decisive stage, with the Spanish midfielder reportedly closer than ever to fulfilling his dream of returning to his hometown and wearing the white shirt.
According to reports, the main obstacle remaining is reaching a final agreement with Manchester City over the transfer fee before the deal can be officially completed.
Speaking on Radio Marca, journalist Sergio Valentín revealed that Manchester City attempted to encourage interest from other clubs in an effort to increase competition for Rodri's signature. "Manchester City tried to get other clubs to bid for Rodri, but they haven't succeeded."
The English club reportedly explored interest from teams including Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid, but none have managed to alter the player's stance.
Valentín added that Rodri has made his intentions unmistakably clear. "Rodri has blocked all other options. He only wants to go to Real Madrid, with whom he has an agreement. This desire helps Madrid try to get the best price."
The midfielder's determination has significantly strengthened Real Madrid's position in negotiations, with the club hoping to secure a deal on favorable financial terms.
According to Valentín, Real Madrid have no intention of walking away from the transfer, viewing Rodri as a cornerstone of José Mourinho's new project. The final agreement is expected to fall between €65 million and €75 million, with only the exact fee still to be settled before the operation is officially announced.
