Real Madrid are closing in on the signing of Rodri after making the Manchester City midfielder their top priority for the remainder of the summer transfer window. Following weeks of internal discussions, the Spaniard's performances at the World Cup reportedly convinced the club's hierarchy to move forward with the deal.

According to Rodra, Real Madrid are now very close to completing Rodri's transfer for a fee of around €65 million. The report adds that an agreement has been reached with both Manchester City and the player, leaving only the official announcement pending.

The delay is reportedly linked to Manchester City's search for a replacement. The Premier League club is working to finalize the signing of Ayyoub Bouaddi, and Real Madrid are expected to wait until that deal is completed before unveiling Rodri. The same approach was reportedly taken in the case of Yan Diomandé, whose transfer is agreed but has not yet been officially announced while RB Leipzig secures a replacement.

Rodri's arrival would provide José Mourinho's side with a major reinforcement in midfield. Despite continued speculation, no significant departures are currently expected in that area of the squad, with both Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni reportedly determined to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu despite interest from other clubs.
