The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has announced the refereeing appointments for Sunday’s La Liga fixtures, corresponding to Matchday 12 of the competition.
Juan Martínez Munuera, from the Valencian Committee, has been assigned to officiate the clash between Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid, while Jorge Figueroa Vázquez, from the Andalusian Committee, will oversee VAR duties.
This will be the third time Martínez Munuera takes charge of a Rayo Vallecano–Real Madrid match. He previously refereed this fixture in the 2022-23 season—a 3-2 win for Rayo—and again last season, when the game ended 3-3 in a controversial draw. On that occasion, Real Madrid fans voiced strong complaints about the referee’s performance, claiming he missed two penalties (on Vinicius Jr. and Arda Güler) and issued a yellow card to Vinicius, which ruled him out of the following match against Sevilla.
