Real Madrid have taken a firm stance against the governing bodies of Spanish football, entering into a growing conflict with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), LaLiga, and the Technical Committee of Referees. The club believes it has been repeatedly wronged by refereeing decisions, a sentiment reinforced by a series of controversial incidents in recent league matches.
The latest flashpoint came at the Santiago Bernabéu against Girona, where Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw, effectively ending their title hopes. During the match, Kylian Mbappé was struck in the face by Vitor Reis inside the box, but no penalty was awarded. The controversy deepened when images later revealed the French forward had been left bleeding, an incident not shown during the broadcast.
Frustration has also stemmed from other recent decisions. Real Madrid point to a possible handball by Pablo Torre in their defeat to Mallorca, as well as the sending-off of Federico Valverde in the derby, which the club considers unjustified despite securing the win.
These concerns echo earlier grievances, including a key moment in Pamplona where referee José Luis Munuera Montero issued a red card to Jude Bellingham under controversial circumstances, a decision that contributed to Real Madrid losing momentum in the title race.
In response, the club has compiled a detailed report highlighting what it views as inconsistent refereeing standards in matches involving Real Madrid. According to reports, this document is set to be submitted to both UEFA and FIFA. With relations between the club and these institutions having improved following the resolution of tensions linked to the Super League project, Real Madrid hope their complaint will lead to formal review and potential action.
