Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to make a decisive move regarding the future of Ferland Mendy this summer.

Although an informal contract extension until 2027 was agreed months ago, Mendy’s situation has changed significantly. According to journalist Miguel Serrano, the club is open to facilitating his departure if suitable offers arrive. Moreover, if no satisfactory bids are received, Real Madrid are even considering terminating his contract by granting him a free transfer.

Such a move would reportedly involve paying the remaining value of his contract in order to free up salary space and streamline the squad ahead of the next transfer window. The strategy mirrors previous cases involving Eden Hazard and attempts made with David Alaba, where financial restructuring was prioritized over sporting continuity.

Mendy has undoubtedly been an important figure in recent seasons. However, prolonged inconsistency — both physically and in his on-field performances — has led decision-makers at Valdebebas to believe that a separation could be the most practical solution for both player and club.
