Real Madrid have stepped up the pressure through their official channel, Real Madrid TV, by once again focusing on the Negreira case and the payments Barcelona made over 17 years to the former vice president of the refereeing committee. While the topic has been a constant on the channel, it received special attention during the pre-match broadcast ahead of the game against Valencia at Mestalla.

The timing was far from accidental. The segment aired shortly after Barcelona officially announced their withdrawal from the Super League, a move that had long been expected but was confirmed last Saturday. That decision effectively leaves Real Madrid isolated in a project that originally involved 12 clubs. Nine of them withdrew within days due to external pressure, followed later by Juventus, leaving only Barcelona and Real Madrid as promoters. Despite securing approval from European courts, the competition failed to gain broader support, eventually leading Barcelona to abandon the project as well.

This outcome appears to have struck a nerve at Real Madrid. Ahead of the Valencia match, RMTV revisited the Negreira case in depth, placing particular emphasis on Joan Laporta’s testimony in court, where the Barcelona president claimed he did not know Negreira. To counter that claim, the broadcast included footage from La Sexta showing Laporta greeting Negreira during a meeting at the RFEF in his first term as president, with the then vice president of referees telling him, “It’s good to see you,” suggesting a prior relationship.

The segment also featured court testimonies from Luis Enrique and Ernesto Valverde. Both former Barcelona coaches denied having any knowledge of the alleged referee reports that Barça is accused of paying for, stating they neither knew of their existence nor required such material for their work.
