Miguel Gutiérrez is on the brink of making the leap to Italian football, with his move to Napoli now looking like a matter of time. As reported by Marca, the Girona left-back is extremely close to joining the Serie A side, with negotiations between the clubs virtually complete. The Spanish full-back has already been presented with a five-year contract, and the final step is his personal approval to seal the deal.
Napoli's interest isn’t new. Antonio Conte has had his eye on Gutiérrez for over a year, viewing him as an ideal player for his tactical setup. The plan is straightforward: bolster the left flank with someone who brings together technical ability, physicality, and the stamina to cover the whole wing. So committed are Napoli to landing him that they’re prepared to pay as much as €30 million.
Though Real Madrid once held an €8 million buy-back clause for the player they developed, they chose not to activate it, instead opting to focus on Álvaro Carreras. Still, Los Blancos didn’t walk away empty-handed—they retained 50% of Gutiérrez’s rights and will therefore earn a significant portion of the profit from this transfer. With Girona reportedly set to sell him for €30 million after having initially acquired him for just €8 million, Real Madrid would pocket around €11 million from the deal.
Gutiérrez has had another standout season at Girona, confirming he’s ready to take a step up to a bigger stage. Both Juventus and Milan have tracked him, but Napoli were the ones who acted decisively and moved into pole position. Now, everything hinges on the player's green light.
