Real Madrid will learn their opponent for the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, January 7, during the draw held at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas. The tie will be decided in a single match, scheduled to be played on January 13, 14, or 15.
As per the competition rules, teams from higher divisions will be paired, whenever possible, with lower-division sides. If Real Madrid are drawn against a lower-league opponent, they will play away from home. In the event of facing another First Division team, the match will take place at the stadium of the club whose ball is drawn first.
So far, 15 teams have secured their place in the Round of 16: Real Madrid, Athletic Club, Atlético Madrid, Barcelona, Real Betis, Alavés, Osasuna, Elche, Valencia, Real Sociedad, Burgos, Albacete, Cultural Leonesa, Racing Santander, and Deportivo La Coruña. The final spot will be decided on January 6, when Granada and Rayo Vallecano face each other in their pending match.
