Real Madrid is already working on planning the squad for next season, and while potential arrivals and loan moves are being evaluated, one position is currently generating the most concern inside the club: shooting guard.
According to Encestando, the club is searching for a very specific profile. The ideal player would be capable of creating plays, punishing defenses from the three point line, and contributing solidly on the defensive end. Finding such a complete shooting guard is not easy, but it is considered essential for a roster expected to include 14 or 15 players competing for major titles.
The departure of David Kramer will open a roster spot, while the situation of Almansa adds another layer to the planning. The club’s idea is to send him on loan for a season to a team competing in two tournaments so he can gain more experience. However, finalizing such a move has not been easy. Encestando notes that Almansa previously refused a move to Gran Canaria despite an agreement being close.
Within the current squad, Alberto Abalde remains the primary option at shooting guard. Andrés Feliz has also adapted to playing the role after learning the position under Sergio Scariolo, while veteran Sergio Llull will continue contributing his experience. Meanwhile, Théo Maledon can cover the position but is expected to operate mainly as a point guard depending on tactical needs.
With Okeke and Deck freeing up non-EU player slots, several potential reinforcements are already being discussed. Among the names linked with Madrid are Jimmy Clark of Maccabi Tel Aviv, valued for his development, Matthew Strazel of Monaco for his shooting and playmaking, Armoni Brooks from Olimpia Milano for his scoring ability, and Jared Rhoden from Paris Basketball.
