Real Madrid has officially secured the signing of Théo Maledon, the French point guard from LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, on a contract that will run for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2027.
An established France international, Maledon played a key role in helping his national team win silver at the 2022 European Championship.
He began his professional career at ASVEL, where he had a breakout 2018-2019 season, winning both the French League and Cup, while earning MVP honors in the Cup final and being named Best Young Player of the league.
In 2020, Maledon made the leap to the NBA, where he accumulated 177 appearances over several seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Charlotte Hornets, and Phoenix Suns.
After his American adventure, the 24-year-old returned to Europe for the 2024-25 season, rejoining ASVEL. There, he delivered a standout campaign, averaging 17 points per game in the Euroleague and earning a spot in the All-EuroLeague Second Team.
Now, he arrives at Real Madrid to bolster the backcourt, bringing with him experience, leadership, and scoring ability.
