Real Madrid has finalized the signing of young center Izan Almansa, a rising star in Spanish basketball, as reported by journalists Noelia Gómez Mira and Guillermo García and confirmed by MARCA. The Murcia-born player joins from the Delaware Blue Coats of the G League, marking the return to Spain of one of his generation’s most promising talents after his experience in the United States.
At only 20 years old, Almansa stands out for his strong rebounding skills and versatility in the paint. He has regularly featured in rankings of the world’s top international prospects and has been a consistent performer for Spain’s youth national teams in FIBA tournaments.
A product of UCAM Murcia and Real Madrid’s youth systems, Almansa’s career has already taken him through the Overtime Elite Academy, YNG Dreamerz, G League Ignite, and the Perth Wildcats before his stint with the Delaware Blue Coats. He now returns to Europe to continue his development.
Almansa becomes Real Madrid’s sixth addition of the summer, following the appointments of Sergio Scariolo as head coach, power forward Chuma Okeke from the Cleveland Cavaliers, French forward Theo Malédon from ASVEL Villeurbanne, Slovakian forward with German citizenship David Kramer from La Laguna Tenerife, and young Italian forward Gabriele Procida from ALBA Berlin. These arrivals help compensate for the departures of Eli Ndiaye to the Atlanta Hawks, Hugo González to the Boston Celtics, and Xavier Rathan-Mayes to Bayern Munich.
For now, the club does not plan to send Almansa out on loan, preferring instead to monitor his adaptation and assess his role in a squad that will face a demanding schedule throughout the coming season.
