Real Madrid have officially confirmed the signing of Mady Sissoko until the end of the season as the club looks to address its shortage of interior players following a series of injuries.

The 25-year-old Malian center, who stands 2.05 meters tall, arrives after injuries to Edy Tavares, Alex Len and Usman Garuba left the team short-handed in the paint over the past few weeks. Sissoko could make his debut as early as Tuesday when Real Madrid face La Laguna Tenerife in the quarter-finals of the playoffs.

The center joins from Trieste, whose Serie A campaign has already come to an end. In his first professional season after college basketball stints at Michigan State and the University of California, Sissoko averaged 10.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in the Italian League.

His performances were even stronger in the Basketball Champions League, where he posted averages of 13 points and 8.7 rebounds.

Sissoko has built a reputation for his physical presence, rebounding ability and shot-blocking skills. He is particularly effective on the offensive boards and around the basket, where most of his scoring comes from.

While his style differs from those of Tavares, Len and Garuba, his profile shares some similarities with Garuba's. However, he offers less lateral mobility and is considered less polished as a shooter.
