On Friday, AC Milan confirmed the permanent signing of Alex Jimenez. The 19-year-old defender initially joined the Serie A giants last summer on loan from Real Madrid, and the buy clause included in that deal, estimated at €5m, has now been activated.
However, Real Madrid still holds influence over Jimenez’s future, as they typically do with most young talents they sell. According to Fabrizio Romano, a buy-back clause was agreed upon with Milan. If Real Madrid chooses to trigger this clause next summer, it would cost them €9m, and the price would rise to €12m by 2026.
This arrangement means Real Madrid will be closely monitoring Jimenez’s progress at Milan over the next couple of years. He made a few appearances for the first team last season, and if he can establish himself further, re-signing him could become a sensible move for Real Madrid in the future.
