Real Madrid continue to operate with great discretion in the youth talent market, with the club having worked for months on a potential deal for JJ Gabriel, one of the promising young players linked with Manchester United.
According to The Athletic, the operation is being handled discreetly by José Ángel Sánchez and Juni Calafat, two key figures in Real Madrid’s sporting planning. The club has been exploring the possibility of signing Gabriel for some time, with his initial involvement expected to focus on the youth academy.
The current plan would see JJ Gabriel join Castilla, allowing him to continue his development while competing at a higher level. The project could also include participation in the UEFA Youth League, giving the youngster the opportunity to test himself against some of the best players of his generation in European football.
Real Madrid are once again following their established strategy of recruiting promising young talents and gradually integrating them into La Fábrica rather than immediately placing them in the first-team environment.
The idea would be to give Gabriel time to develop within the club before deciding on his long-term pathway. The involvement of Sánchez and Calafat underlines the importance Real Madrid are placing on the operation, with both figures having extensive experience in identifying and securing emerging talent.
