Spanish football has also seen an important round of elections in recent days. First and Second Division clubs have formed alliances and secured support to determine the composition of LaLiga's Delegate Commission, one of the competition's most influential bodies. The commission discusses and approves projects before they are put to a vote at the General Assembly. According to AS, Real Madrid has retained its seat on the committee.
LaLiga holds elections for the Delegate Commission every two years, with the body due for renewal in 2026. In 2024, Real Madrid regained a seat after securing the support of Real Sociedad and Valladolid, despite its ongoing disagreements with the league's leadership.
In the latest elections, the club has once again secured the backing of two teams, Real Sociedad and Athletic Club, allowing it to retain its position on the commission. The result has reportedly not been well received by LaLiga's senior management, whose vision for the football industry differs significantly from that of Real Madrid.
LaLiga has yet to officially announce the composition of the new Delegate Commission, as the appeals period remains open. Atlético Madrid has traditionally occupied the first vice-presidency, while clubs aligned with Javier Tebas have held a majority of the remaining positions.
The Delegate Commission serves as LaLiga's ordinary governing and administrative body. It meets monthly during the season and can also convene extraordinary meetings when requested by at least four members or the president of the organization. The commission plays a major role in Spanish football, with Tebas and his management team presenting plans and proposals concerning the competition, including changes to financial controls and projects such as the CVC initiative.
