Just a few days ago, Real Madrid feared the worst regarding Éder Militão, with early assessments suggesting he could be sidelined for up to four months due to a serious muscle tear. That initial outlook created real concern within the club, but now there is positive news.

According to Marcos Benito on El Chiringuito, the Brazilian defender has received a much more optimistic medical evaluation after being examined by a specialist. “Good news regarding Militão. Yesterday he underwent tests with a specialist, and it seems the injury is not as serious as it appeared. I am told the recovery time could even be cut in half. There was talk of four months, and now they say it may be around two months or a few weeks more, but it would not reach three or four months. The tear is in the back of his thigh,” the journalist explained.

For Xabi Alonso, this comes as a huge relief. When fit, Militão is the most dominant defender in the squad. Losing him for four months would have been a heavy blow; losing him for two is still difficult, but far more manageable.

Attention now turns to the replacements. Rüdiger and Asensio will shoulder the responsibility at the back, while Dean Huijsen remains an important option as he continues to be carefully monitored due to a muscle issue. These three will have the task of filling the gap left by the Brazilian, especially with David Alaba unavailable and not expected to return soon.

Militão, meanwhile, is optimistic about returning in time for the decisive stretch of the season.
