Real Madrid reached the EuroLeague final for the fourth time in the last five seasons after defeating Valencia Basket 90-105 in the all-Spanish semifinal played at the Telekom Arena in Athens.
Sergio Scariolo’s side produced another impressive collective performance despite dealing with major absences in the frontcourt due to injuries to Tavares and Len. The situation became even more difficult after Garuba suffered an injury with nine minutes remaining.
Real Madrid responded with a dominant display, controlling most of the game through an explosive second quarter in which they scored 36 points. Strong defensive work after halftime and 19 offensive rebounds also proved decisive in securing the victory.
Mario Hezonja led the team with 25 points, seven rebounds, and a performance rating of 33. Gabriel Deck added 16 points and eight rebounds, including five offensive boards, while Lyles contributed 17 points and Feliz finished with 15 points and eight assists.
Real Madrid will now face Olympiacos in the EuroLeague final after the Greek side defeated Fenerbahce. The championship game will take place on Sunday at 8:00 pm.
