Yan Diomande's proposed move to Real Madrid has evolved into one of the summer's longest-running transfer sagas. While many expected a swift agreement, the operation remains open.

RB Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer has confirmed that the deal has not yet been completed and that negotiations between the clubs are still ongoing. Even so, the transfer remains very much alive.

According to Ramón Álvarez de Mon, Real Madrid have worked in recent days to improve relations with the German club after weeks of uncertainty. The journalist reports that negotiations are now taking place in a much calmer atmosphere, with optimism growing that the operation will soon gather pace.

That information is in line with reports from The Athletic, which confirms Schäfer's comments and states that contacts between the two clubs resumed on Tuesday with the objective of reaching a final agreement before the weekend.

Meanwhile, Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport maintains that Diomande is moving steadily closer to Real Madrid. According to the German journalist, the Spanish club is fully committed to completing the signing and continues to push for an agreement with RB Leipzig.

Plettenberg adds that Real Madrid's plan is for the Ivorian winger to travel to the Spanish capital as soon as the deal is completed to undergo his medical examination, with the next 24 hours expected to be decisive in determining the outcome of the transfer.
