ESPN journalist Rodra appeared on Iñaki Angulo’s YouTube channel to discuss the state of Real Madrid’s transfer activity following their heavy defeat to PSG in the Club World Cup semifinals. According to the reporter, the loss could accelerate several transfer decisions.
“Real Madrid is very open to signing new players, and not just Álvaro Carreras,” Rodra explained. “Yesterday I was speaking with agents representing high-level players, and they told me we have to revisit the center-back issue with the club. Offers will return. Let’s see what happens with Konaté. I believe the center-back situation will be reopened. The midfield was already under review, and now even more so.”
The message is clear: Real Madrid are preparing for multiple moves, particularly in defense and midfield, and the imminent arrival of Álvaro Carreras is just the beginning.
In the attacking department, Rodra mentioned: “It looks like Gonzalo García will stay, so we’ll have to see what that implies.” However, he highlighted that Rodrygo’s case is “the issue that will explode in the coming days and weeks. We’ll see how it evolves, especially since the left-winger market is very active right now.”
Finally, Rodra revealed that the Saudi club interested in Rodrygo was not Al-Nassr, as had been speculated, but rather Lacazette's NEOM. Still, the Brazilian forward has firmly ruled out a move outside of Europe this summer.
