Real Madrid are not considered the main favorites to lift the 2025-2026 UEFA Champions League according to bookmakers. Yet paradoxically, they are the team attracting the highest number of bets worldwide to win the competition. That contradiction once again underlines the club’s unique aura in Europe.

Figures from the ‘Champions League Champion’ market reveal that, despite an irregular campaign and the need to go through the playoffs after finishing ninth in the league phase, Real Madrid generate the largest share of global predictions. They may not top the statistical projections, but they clearly dominate in public confidence.

The explanation lies less in current form and more in historical weight. Over the years, the Champions League has been the stage where Real Madrid respond in adversity like no other side in world football. That legacy often outweighs present inconsistencies, and it is reflected directly in betting behavior. More supporters are backing Madrid than any other contender. Some do so out of belief, while others hedge emotionally, reasoning that if their eternal rival triumphs, they will at least gain financially.

The contrast is striking. Several clubs boast stronger recent numbers and greater stability, yet none inspire the same level of backing in the market. Supporters distinguish between analytical favorites and emotional favorites. In the latter category, Real Madrid continue to lead.

Even the impressive form of other European heavyweights has not shifted that dynamic. Arsenal, led the league phase with eight wins in eight matches, as well as Bayern and Liverpool, who finished second and third respectively, have not surpassed Madrid in global betting support. Among fans worldwide, Real Madrid remain the favorite of favorites.

According to Betfair data from the ‘Champions League Winner 2025-2026’ market, the top eleven teams account for 92.74 percent of all predictions placed globally, while the remaining 7.26 percent is distributed among less popular options.
