Real Madrid have to adjust their transfer plans following Guerschon Yabusele's potential departure to the NBA. The French forward, who has been pivotal in recent seasons under coach Chus Mateo, opted to return to the NBA, a move that had seemed unlikely but gained traction after his impressive performance in the Paris Olympic Games.
Yabusele’s exit will leave a significant gap in Madrid’s roster, prompting the club to actively search for a reliable replacement. Recognizing the need for a player who can match Yabusele’s influence on the court, Real Madrid has shifted its focus away from the European market and is targeting an NBA talent to fill the void.
According to journalist Victor Colmenarejo, Real Madrid is in advanced talks to sign Latvian power forward Davis Bertans as Yabusele’s successor. Standing at 2.08 meters and known for his exceptional shooting ability, the 31-year-old Bertans has spent the last eight seasons in the NBA. His potential return to the Endesa League, where he previously played in 2016 with Baskonia, could provide the Merengue team with the quality and experience they need for the upcoming season.
