Real Madrid have been drawn against Albacete in the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey following the draw held at the headquarters of the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The tie will be decided in a single match, scheduled to take place on January 13, 14, or 15 at the Carlos Belmonte Stadium. This will be the first-ever Copa del Rey meeting between the two sides.
Albacete reached this stage after an impressive run despite sitting 17th in the Segunda División with 23 points. Their journey included victories over UD San Fernando (0–3), Leganés (1–2), and Celta de Vigo, whom they eliminated on penalties after a 2–2 draw (3–0 in the shootout).
