Real Madrid faces a major setback ahead of the decisive stage of the EuroLeague season after confirming the injuries of Edy Tavares and Alex Len.

The Madrid side secured qualification for the Final Four after defeating Hapoel Tel Aviv in the quarterfinals, but will now be without two key players for the tournament in Athens, where they are set to face Valencia Basket.

According to AS, Alex Len has suffered a plantar fascia injury in his left foot. The Ukrainian center left last weekend’s game against Río Breogán with a visible limp and has now been ruled out of the EuroLeague Final Four. His availability for the Liga Endesa playoffs also remains uncertain.

Tavares’ situation is even more serious. The center suffered a tear of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee during the opening EuroLeague playoff game and will miss the remainder of the season.

The injury means Tavares will be unavailable for both the Final Four and the rest of the Liga Endesa campaign, leaving coach Sergio Scariolo with limited options in the paint. Usman Garuba is now expected to take on a key role as Real Madrid continues its push for both the EuroLeague and Liga Endesa titles.
