Real Madrid have made several defensive additions in recent seasons as they look to strengthen their back line. Last year, the club brought in Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Álvaro Carreras. This summer, they signed Ibrahima Konaté on a free transfer and also added Denzel Dumfries and Marc Cucurella to reinforce the full-back positions.

However, José Mourinho reportedly believes the squad still needs another centre-back. The Real Madrid coach wants an experienced defender capable of competing at the highest level, which has brought Alessandro Bastoni back into the picture.

The Inter Milan captain has been linked with Real Madrid throughout the summer and is considered one of the leading defenders in European football. The Italian is also reportedly keen on the possibility of joining the Spanish giants.

According to Football Sources, Bastoni would prefer a move to Real Madrid over offers from other clubs. Inter Milan are prepared to consider his departure, but only if their demands of more than €70 million are met.

The 27-year-old is reportedly a specific request from Mourinho as he looks to strengthen his defence. A move in 2027 is therefore a possibility, with Bastoni potentially joining Huijsen, Éder Militão, Konaté and the rest of the defensive unit at the Santiago Bernabéu.
