Controversy has once again surrounded Raúl Asencio. Real Madrid welcomed the Canary Islands-born defender back to Valdebebas after a month on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, with the center-back returning to the pitch and working with the ball.
However, his return has come amid controversy. Atlántico Hoy recently revealed that Asencio was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol following an incident in Gran Canaria while he was still recovering from his injury.
Real Madrid have reportedly been informed of the situation and have decided to take immediate action. According to Melchor Ruiz on COPE, the club has opened disciplinary proceedings against the defender, who could face serious consequences.
The case will now reportedly be investigated internally, with the club expected to determine the appropriate sanction depending on the circumstances and severity of the incident. Asencio could face a financial penalty or other disciplinary measures.
The 23-year-old defender will therefore have to accept both the legal consequences of the incident and any decision ultimately made by Real Madrid.
