Ferland Mendy's future at Real Madrid could be heading toward an unexpected outcome as the club reportedly considers terminating his contract.

According to AS, Real Madrid are exploring the possibility of reaching an agreement with the French defender to bring his spell at the Santiago Bernabéu to an early end. The club believes his current injury situation makes a transfer difficult this summer, prompting the search for alternative solutions.

The scenario is reminiscent of the agreement reached with Eden Hazard, whose contract was terminated before its scheduled expiration after both parties agreed to part ways.

Real Madrid's priority is reportedly to reduce the wage bill and create space within the squad ahead of several planned moves during the transfer window. The recent arrival of Marc Cucurella, the presence of Álvaro Carreras and Fran García, and the club's pursuit of versatile defensive reinforcements have further limited Mendy's prospects.
