Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Real Madrid have added Jürgen Klopp to their list of possible successors should Xabi Alonso’s situation take a turn for the worse. Inside the club, the message remains one of patience, but contingency planning has already begun.

Plettenberg states: "Xabi Alonso is expected to be given at least the match on Sunday in Alaves." He also adds: "Understand in the event of a dismissal (which Real Madrid are keen to avoid), Jürgen Klopp is among the candidates."

This sums up the mood around the club right now. Madrid would prefer stability, and many believe Alonso deserves the chance to respond on the pitch. But at the same time, the board knows they can’t be caught unprepared if results continue to dip.
