Real Madrid were quick to congratulate Carlos Alcaraz on winning his first Wimbledon. The club has sent a message congratulating the tennis player, who has managed to win the English tournament after a spectacular comeback against Novak Djokovic, in five sets. This is the second Grand Slam won by the Murcian, a renowned madridista.
"Congratulations on your brilliant victory at Wimbledon, Carlos Alcaraz. And congratulations on maintaining top spot in the world tennis rankings. You are a source of pride for Spanish sport and all of the madridistas," the club congratulated the champion in a statement posted on social media.
Alcaraz has never hidden his passion for Real Madrid. Last season he went to the Bernabéu to watch a match against Elche, when he reached number 1 in the world for the first time, after winning the US Open. After the game, he took the opportunity to spend some time with the players in the locker room.
The club has always congratulated him on his accomplishments throughout his still short career, including the two times he has won the Mutua Madrid Open, demonstrating their admiration for him. After winning his first Wimbledon, the club was too quick naturally to congratulate him on winning his second Grand Slam.
