Real Madrid have made a significant decision regarding their summer preparations, opting to suspend their traditional international preseason tour ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

According to MadridistaReal, the club will carry out its entire preseason at the Valdebebas training complex, marking a complete departure from the commercial tours that have become a regular feature in recent years. With twelve first-team players involved in the World Cup, the club has chosen to prioritize preparation and tactical work under José Mourinho rather than overseas travel.

The new project led by the Portuguese coach is scheduled to begin on July 13, with players not participating in the World Cup returning from their holidays in early July.

The revised schedule could also see the return of behind-closed-doors preseason friendlies at the Ciudad Deportiva, a formula Real Madrid have used in previous summers under exceptional circumstances.

Several details remain unresolved. The club has yet to determine whether any matches will be played outside mainland Spain, while uncertainty also surrounds the possible return of the Santiago Bernabéu Trophy, which has not been held for eight years.

For now, Real Madrid's focus is on ensuring a calmer and more structured preseason as Mourinho begins work on his new era at the club.
