Real Madrid are still reeling from their Champions League elimination, and the mood inside the dressing room is far from ideal with just a week to go before the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona. To make matters more challenging, Los Blancos also face a four-point deficit in the LaLiga title race. Yet, despite these setbacks, there is one tournament that has the squad particularly motivated: the 2025 Club World Cup.

Set to take place for the first time in its expanded format, FIFA's revamped Club World Cup will run from June 15 to July 13 and feature 32 of the world’s top clubs competing to be crowned global champions. Real Madrid, alongside Atlético Madrid, will be the only Spanish representatives in this prestigious competition.

Madrid’s pedigree on the global stage is unmatched. With more LaLiga titles than any other club in Spain and a record 15 Champions League trophies, their dominance is unquestioned. After their disappointing exit at the hands of Arsenal, the Club World Cup presents a new target—one that could restore pride and write a new chapter in the club’s storied history.

Winning the inaugural edition of this tournament would not only bring massive sporting prestige, but also a historic first: Real Madrid would become the first-ever champions of the modern Club World Cup. However, to achieve this, significant changes are required. The current squad has shown signs of tactical disorganization and a worrying drop in physical sharpness—issues that must be addressed if they are to truly compete for global glory.

There's also a major financial incentive: FIFA is expected to award €120 million to the winner. While Madrid are financially stable, such a sum could further strengthen their transfer budget and support the rebuilding efforts already underway for the 2025/26 season.

For Real Madrid, this summer offers more than just a trophy—it offers the chance to reclaim their identity and reinforce their legacy as not only the team of the 20th century, but also the team of the 21st.
