Real Madrid C now has a chance to remain in Segunda RFEF after initially being relegated last season following their playoff defeat to Estepona.
The situation has changed due to administrative relegations affecting other clubs. Tarazona and Arenteiro, both of which competed in Primera RFEF last season, will be dropped to Tercera RFEF after failing to meet financial obligations, specifically the payment of player wages.
As a result, vacancies have opened up in Segunda RFEF, and Real Madrid C is among the teams eligible to fill one of those spots based on sporting order. Castellón B, another team relegated via the playoff route, is also in contention.
Two places have become available, one in Group 1 (Arenteiro’s former spot) and another in Group 2 (Tarazona’s). Castellón will have the first option to choose its preferred group if it decides to accept reinstatement, with the remaining spot potentially going to Real Madrid C.
The Madrid-based side has already confirmed its intention to accept the opportunity to remain in Segunda RFEF. Depending on Castellón’s decision, Real Madrid C would be placed in either Group 1 or Group 2 rather than their natural Group 5.
This development is seen as strategically important for Real Madrid’s youth structure, as it ensures that the club’s second reserve team remains just one tier below Castilla, providing a smoother pathway for academy players progressing through La Fábrica.
